Description

This course is designed for beginners or those new to oil painting. Students will learn the basic technical knowledge around surfaces, tools and materials used in painting. They will go on to learn how to mix colour, understand shape and tone and bring these elements together to independently produce oil paintings. Classes will be run by a professional artist. Students will be using the Winsor & Newton Winton oil paint range. Progression is available onto intermediate oil painting. 

You will need to have paid in full before the first session of your class. Your place is not guaranteed until we have received full payment.  

Tutor Profile: Rachel Levitas

In 2010 Rachel won the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize for her Urban Fox III painting. Based on an experience of...young foxes play-fighting in the street in Lewisham. Beautiful and bold opportunists that represent the rise of forces previously suppressed; the return of the wild to London’s streets, creativity emerging and adapting in a collapsing economy.’  Rachel studied Fine Art at Camberwell School of Art, Advanced Printmaking at Central St Martins and Postgraduate Painting at the Royal Academy Schools (awarded the Turner Gold Medal for Painting) Her most recent solo exhibition was at Rebecca Hossack in 2018. 

Frequently Asked Questions

How will I be taught? The classes will be conducted on Zoom so you will need a Laptop or other device with internet access to follow along 

What will I get in the post? We will send you all the necessary art materials to carry out course work at home 

What else will I need? We will also send you a list of other requirements that will be readily available at home such as jam jars and rags. 

How much space should I have? The coursework will be designed to be carried out on a kitchen table
